Our client is a manufacturer of plastic lids and containers serving the consumer goods packaging sector in the United States and, where applicable, overseas. The position of Account Manager represents the business commercially with respect to promotion, sales, and services of the aforementioned product lines to a variety of customers within a defined area and follows up to ensure successful results. The Account Manager reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Essential Job Functions
Manage and grow an assigned customer account territory selling In-mold-label Thermoformed (T-IML), Injection Mold and Printed packaging.
Maintain a constant search for organic sales opportunities (inj Mold and T-IML) that are in concert with the company's packaging portfolio and developing sales utilizing every practical source.
As directed by of VP Sales and Marketing, implement targeted T-IML growth strategies into actionable plans to achieve the company's commercialization objectives and profitable growth.
Work closely with Engineering to prioritize T-IML tooling commissioning around customer development priorities.
Penetrate beyond Customer procurement teams and expand the scope of executive level contact that can influence our overall account objective and provide downward internal support in their organization to assist in our selling effort.
Work closely on margin mix improvement initiatives with the VP Sales and Marketing to ensure year-over-year territory growth in profitability.
Attain and maintain maximum possible selling prices.
Improve business earnings and cash flow through price implementation, cost reduction, volume mix change, plus slow moving inventory and receivable control.
Resolve account service and quality issues through appropriate coordination with Engineering, Customer Service and Operations plus other departments as necessary.
Work closely with Inside Sales/Customer Service to insure maximum communications on customer needs and issues in order to achieve the best possible customer relations.
Acquire and transmit all possible significant information regarding latest competitor activities and developments in the total packaging industry.
Plan all aspects of the work in advance in a manner calculated to produce maximum possible efficiency.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills - written, oral and interpersonal.
Demonstrate strong negotiation skills and where applicable, contract negotiation skills.
Prefer people located in/or near Indianapolis, IN, Detroit, MI, Columbus, OH, Cleveland, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, or Milwaukee, WI.
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, economics or finance
5-15 years of selling packaging to consumer packaged goods customers preferred
Participative management type – advocating team concepts
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
Strong interpersonal and persuasive skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities. Tactful, mature.
Strong computer proficiency
