Our client is a well known manufacturer of workspace solutions, including power distribution systems (single phase and three phase), racks, enclosures and data center furnishings, with sales in excess of $100MM.
Due to the explosive growth of their business, due partially to a dramatic increase in new products, they have an immediate need to add a sales professional in the Kansas City area to expand their sales in Kansas and Missouri.
In this region, sales are split about 60/40 in Government Accounts vs Commercial Data Center Accounts.
Because of the great growth potential of the government market, they are seeking an individual with strong experience selling to the Kansas City area federal government account base, including the relevant military bases.
Total compensation usually is around 9% of gross sales. Percentages are lower for govt business because profit margins are lower, and are higher for corporate business. In a normal year, sales should be around $1MM, for income of around $90K. However, the region has been under-tended and is currently producing only about $400K in sales.
When a new person is hired, the base salary will be in the $40K to $50K vicinity, plus the completely uncapped commission plan. Realistic first year earnings would probably be $60K, and closer to $90K or higher subsequently. The highest paid people in the company earn well over $400K.
