POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Technical Service Manager Reports To: Director Sales & Marketing
Company Description: Well established (over 45 years in business), privately held manufacturer of advanced materials used in a wide variety of industrial and consumer applications located in the Philadelphia suburban area.
Summary Provide technical service and support for internal and external customers to address end customer needs and expectations in support of company objectives.
Responsibilities and Objectives ? Provide timely response to customer inquiries, as a key point of contact for internal and external customers.
? Identify product and process sale and development opportunities by determining customer requirements, commercial considerations (including cost, benefit, profit, timing, market demand, etc.), competitors products and potential competitive situations, identifying and analyzing trends in technology, studying plant products and processes, and conferring with topic experts and relevant functions. Determine the need for and feasibility of technical service projects in support of this objective.
? Plan, initiate, execute, manage, and report on technical service product and process projects by integrating project priorities into corporate priorities and collaborating with topic experts and relevant functions. Collect, analyze, and interpret data in order to provide customers with mutually acceptable solutions.
? Investigate and resolve customer inquiries, requests, and/or complaints by coordinating with relevant functions.
? Report in detail all customer contact to relevant management and sales functions.
? Maintain project documentation by maintaining laboratory notebooks and other suitable records of work, preparing project reports, maintaining project information files, summarizing projects on completion, and distributing the results to relevant functions.
? Develop expertise in the properties, uses, and processing of materials in order to provide customers with expert guidance in their selection and use.
? Develop and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies and industry conferences.
? Analyze and propose changes in customer and corporate methods and procedures to improve efficiency and the quality of service as applicable.
? Protect corporate assets by maintaining confidentiality.
? Contribute to the team effort by supporting operational policies and procedures and by accomplishing related results as needed.

Experience Required: Minimum of 10 years technical experience with specific background in thick film pastes or ceramic tapes either as a producer or user General business or sales experience with significant customer interaction highly desirable Experience must be clearly progressive, demonstrating a creative intellect toward solving customer problems, reducing costs, reducing lead times and developing new market opportunities. Prior supervisory experience preferred, but not mandatory

Must possess visionary forward thinking style to plan for growth and manage complex projects. Must be able to advance in position of greater responsibility
Education: Bachelors degree required; Chemistry or Materials Science Advanced degree highly desirable
