Business Development Manager - Nursery
As a Nursery Business Development Manager, you will establish contacts, keep in touch with and present product and technical knowledge to brokers and prospects. You will be in close communications with growers as well as our marketing department. You will develop, implement, manage and adjust budgets and varieties/numbers prognoses. You will create value and anticipate commercial market developments. In addition, you will develop, implement and manage sales plans. You will utilize the Companys core values to establish personal high standards of excellence and job performance.
Managing Business Development Set sales strategies both short and long-term and manage sales department to implement strategic and tactical plans. Stay informed of the market in order to make good decisions relative to changes in strategy, tactics, organization, policies and procedures. Provide sales projections Manage targeted accounts, tracking systems, calendars and monthly sales forecasts with the objective to increase sales, gross and net profit. Identify customer needs; develop and sell solutions that maximize product offerings, services and technical support. Maintain awareness of customer needs and new developments through regular interactions with vendors, customers, attendance at local trade shows, association meetings, garden centers, growers, farms and distribution centers Maintain contact with nursery managers and universities to learn and understand new products and techniques, marketability of crops and accuracy of inventory. Manage price lists and special pricing Prepare bids and estimates Monitor customer reaction to new growing techniques and recommendations for future production Estimate of crop movement and assist in solving specific customer problems or requests.
What youll bring to the Table: Education and/or Experience: Four year degree in Horticulture or related field. Extensive sales experience and developing new business preferably in the nursery industry Knowledge of plant material is desired Certification as nursery professional by State Nursery Association is desirable Strong sense of personal and professional integrity.
